We're a family of 5, and dad is clearly outnumbered. We enjoy being outdoors, getting our hands dirty, or staying in and enjoying a family movie, and playing dress up!

Our kids sure do love pretend play! We have a huge bin of dress up clothes and accessories. Melia is 5 and loves princesses, while Maddi is 7 and loves Dinosaurs and Dragons! My role in pretend play is to act scared, or be the damsel in distress, or I make them pretend lunches with our play kitchen! (I also fix or sew back together broken and ripped toys... haha)

The girls love to stuff their full suit costumes full of pillows and blankets, then sit them at the table and feed them play food. Or reenacting a movie they recently have seen. It's interesting to see how they come up with ideas when we don't have that specific costume... Don't have it? Make Believe!

What are some of the funniest things they've said while engaging in pretend play?

Oh Gosh, there are so many throughout the years. It's hard to narrow it down to just one. Kids really do say the darndest things. I think the one that I most remember is:

Melia - “Maddi, what are you doing?”

Maddi - “Making the unicorn give you the stink eye!”

Melia - “What's the stink eye?”

Maddi - “It's like the evil eye, only stinkier.”

Let your kids explore, make a mess, put together mis-matching pieces, let them create or craft something they need. Sometimes you'd be surprised at what they come up with.  Sometimes, the girls can't even do their homework without wearing their favourite costume.  And yes, at times, we go shopping with Super Hero Capes on.

My mom had bought the Colour Capes for the older girls for Christmas 2017. I was so amazed and the girls loved customizing their own capes. I looked into the company and found they do more than just Colour Capes, but also Dress Up clothes and Accessories. I run a day home, and dress up is one of the best things to keep all these imaginative minds busy for an extended period of time. I wish I could have more Great Pretenders Products for our dress up collection!
